AMC’s Sponsored Athletes has grown by two! Meet the new members of our program:
TYLER MATHEWS
Tyler is a runner who started training as a way to lose weight after college. After a few months, he realized that the benefits to his waist line were small when compared to how well his mind and spirit responded to the disciplined training regimen and the camaraderie of racing. He ran his first marathon in 2014 in Houston, and had the pleasure of experiencing the Boston Marathon in 2015. Tyler is currently training for trail ultramarathons and plans to compete in the Bandera 100k in January 2017. He is also a coach at Rogue Running, and for his day job, he’s an IT Project Manager at The University of Texas at Austin.
TAYLOR BROWN
Taylor is an elite rower who is training to compete for a position on the 2017 USrowing senior national team. Taylor graduated from Brown University in 2012 after rowing there for four years. Taylor’s rowing career at Brown was highlighted by winning the Ivy League championships three times, and finishing top three in the country in 2009, 2010, and 2012. During his graduate education at UT, Taylor competed at the elite level, where he finished top 20 in the country in the single, top four in the double, and top two in the quad sculls. In 2015, Taylor was the runner up at the Pan American Games trials in the single, which put him in an “alternate” position. Now Taylor trains full time as an elite rower. His ultimate goal is to represent the US at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Aside from rowing, Taylor enjoys playing with this two dogs, Thomas Jefferson and Boo, and hanging out at Barton Springs on hot days.
