Mark Wignall

Mark Wignall

I am an age group athlete who began Triathlon in 2015.  I fell in love with the sport and 4 seasons later just finished my first full Ironman.  As you will see by my results, I am not the fastest, but I love the sport and people of all shapes and sizes and all ability levels can compete in triathlon.  In addition, especially for those of us who are older athletes (I just turned 50), we need to take extra care of our bodies including stretching, rolling and MASSAGES to keep the blood flowing and heal our sore muscles.

Allison Macsas

Allison Macsas
Allison Macsas

Allison Macsas has been a mileage junkie since the age of 15 when she was convinced to join her high school cross country team. That decision has led to a life built around running: a successful collegiate career, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers, a Leadville 100 finish, two R2R2R finishes and the founding of a run-travel company, Rogue Expeditions.

Allison keeps what is best described as a nomadic training schedule, frequently switching between focused training with Rogue Running here in Austin (where she also works as a graphic designer) and exploratory trail running while guiding trips all over the world. She currently holds 1:13 and 2:39 half marathon & marathon PRs and competes for Skechers Performance.

Courtney Oaks

Courtney Oaks
Courtney Oaks

Courtney started training for her first triathlon a few short weeks ago. Her story though, started long before that. She has lived in Austin for seven years, where she took to the biking trails as a common activity. It wasn’t until over a year ago that things got real. Lying in a hospital bed, she was given news that there was a sub sternal tumor lying over her heart. With surgery lined up, and an unclear future, Courtney began to make a bucket list. Despite being left with numbing feelings in her neck, chest and left arm, she has stuck true to her list and is pushing towards her first triathlon in June. Training with Erin, Owner and Coach of Big Pistachio, Courtney has overcome a life changing diagnosis and is well on her way to showing others you don’t need to wait for everything to be in place before chasing your dreams. Courtney has already lost 70 pounds on her healthy lifestyle journey and has aspirations to complete an Ironman in the future. For now, when she isn’t training, she is also pursuing rock climbing.

Tyler Mathews

Tyler Mathews

Tyler is a runner who started training as a way to lose weight after college. After a few months, he realized that the benefits to his waist line were small when compared to how well his mind and spirit responded to the disciplined training regimen and the camaraderie of racing. He ran his first marathon in 2014 in Houston, and had the pleasure of experiencing the Boston Marathon in 2015. Tyler is currently training for trail ultramarathons and plans to compete in the Bandera 100k in January 2017. He is also a coach at Rogue Running, and for his day job, he’s an IT Project Manager at The University of Texas at Austin.
