My experience in the health field began long before I entered into my massage career nearly fourteen years ago. I was raised by a mother who believed deeply in health and wellness and she instilled in me the importance in caring for myself and being diagnosed at a young age with Epilepsy only strengthened that importance. With the knowledge by mother had given me; I had a strong belief and passion for the wellness field. In 2006 I was living in a small town in Maine teaching fitness classes and trying to figure out how to build upon my career. When by simple chance a massage school opened up near me and this gave me the opportunity to further my career in health and wellness.
Straight out of school I had the opportunity to work in a chiropractic office working specifically with clients with chronic pain. This is where I found my love of treatment work and Trigger Point Therapy. Over years my career gave me the chance to work in many different settings such as clinics, spas, resorts and hotels.
In 2011 while living in Oregon I went to back to school and earned my Bachelors of Science in Community Health Education with my focus being on the healthcare system. I wanted to build upon my personal knowledge and find a way to educate others about healthcare and wellness. During this time I continued with my massage career but also began giving lectures and trainings on the changing health care system to various groups and nonprofits that helped individuals with Neurological Issues. After graduation I accepted a job for a health service agency in Austin, Texas.
In 2014 I moved from the Pacific Northwest and left massage to begin a new career in Texas in the health Service field. It didn’t take long to realize that sitting in front of a computer 8-10 hours a day wasn’t right for me. I missed teaching and working one on one with people on their path to healing.
Today I can enjoy working with clients with various issues from chronic neck pain, running injuries and individuals just looking to unwind from life with a simple relaxation massage. When I am not helping my massage clients. I am teaching online classes about self-care, brain health, and therapeutic ketogenic diets. In my free time I can be found travelling, reading, swimming and taking my two yellow labs Duke and Blue for long walks around Austin.
