Where did you go to school? How many years have you been a therapist? Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?
I am a Lauterstein-Conway Massage School alumni, earning my license in July 2019. Since then I’ve gained a great deal of experience working full-time and through a multitude of continuing education courses including Chair Massage, Lomi Lomi, Prenatal & Perinatal Therapy with Carole Osborne (currently pursuing certification TBC 2022), as well as earning certifications in Cupping Therapy and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Prior to a career in massage therapy, I came from a corporate hospitality/events/logistics background but ultimately craved a career that felt more meaningful. Years ago I was encouraged to explore massage, it became a big part of my healing journey changing the way I lived in and understood my body. That was a turning point that ultimately inspired me to pursue this career.
What do you consider your specialty modality or stand out area of the body/type of injury you feel you are an expert at addressing? How do you describe your massage/work to others?
My focus is to provide a therapeutic experience that is tailored to my clients needs and focus as well as creating an opportunity for them to connect more deeply with their bodies while cultivating presence in a nurturing, positive and non-judgemental space. I’m particularly passionate about Cupping but also love providing Deep Tissue, Swedish relaxation, Prenatal and MLD amongst other things. I’m constantly seeking out education, experience and information that will allow me to bring more tools to my clients to support their wellness journey.
What brought you to AMC? And what will you bring to the team at AMC?
I had heard of AMC during school and had the pleasure of meeting Michelle when she presented to my class as well as getting to work with her at a later continuing education course. I was really impressed by what she’s done with her business and the kind of work AMC does in general. Throughout my career I’ve also managed to consistently work for local woman-owned small businesses and I’m excited to continue that trend with Austin Massage Company. I hope to contribute my skills, love of massage and lifelong learning, positive energy, openness and honesty to this great team!
When you are not massaging, what do you like to do with your time? What do you do to stay healthy?
I’m an avid walker/hiker/nature lover, I recently visited over 40 NPS sites while touring the country on an extended road trip. I have a passion for visual and performing arts, travel, trying new things and having new experiences. I believe animals can heal the soul and was a long time cat-lady until my kitties passed so recently became a foster cat-Mom with APA. I also love to cook and bake and have been experimenting with more plant-based and gluten-free cooking to find healthier and more sustainable ways to eat and support my overall health. Also a big reader and supporter of the Austin Library system (it’s fantastic!). I’m always setting new goals and challenging myself, as part of that I hope to complete Manitou Incline in Colorado next Fall.
