Matter of the Sun

This has been an odd summer, to say the least. And as we finally get into consistent temps we are used to seeing months behind (not complaining, just saying), AMC is here to remind you to PUT ON SUNSCREEN. Like you have heard before, it is so important to your health, and easy to forget about. Here are a few tips for why, and how you should be using sunscreen.

1.Preventing Skin Cancer. Skin cancer rates are on the rise and sunscreen has been proven to decrease the development of skin cancer. Find a good brand with SPF between 30 – 50, as recent studies show that anything under 30 is not effective in stopping UV rays, and that after 50 SPF there is really no additional benefit.

2.Browning and Discoloration. It helps to prevent facial brown spots and skin discolorations. Want to keep your skin young and fresh? Use sunscreen everyday on your face to help protect and fade dark spots (bonus tip don’t forget your hands!).

3.Lowers redness and blotchiness on face. By appling sunscreen regularly on your face you will aid in preventing the onset of that irritating blotchiness and eruptions of red veins. This is also essential to stop the onset of acne and other sun rays- induced damages.

4.Prevents Sunburns. Sunburns weaken your skin, subjecting it bruising more easily. Your skin may suffer repeated attacks of peeling, swelling, redness, hives, itching, and even infection that can lead to scarring of your skin.

5.Enhances Health of the Skin. The essential skin proteins, such as collagen, keratin, and elastin are protected by sunscreen. These proteins are required for keeping the skin smooth and healthy. Make sure your sunscreen has titanium oxide in it for endowing these benefits to the skin.
