Nora Colligan: A Q&A before Olympic Trials

We can’t praise this girl enough! Nora is a superstar runner on her way to the Olympic Trials. And one awesome enough to let us ask her a few questions before heading out:

1. How did you get your start in running?
I started running cross country and track in middle school and have been running every since.

2. What does your training regime look like?
My training block began in August for the California International Marathon on Dec 6th (my qualifying race), since then I’ve been recovering and will have a short build up to full mileage, and then a quick taper.

3. What are your thoughts going into the trials?
I am just excited and honored to get the chance to run in the trials.  I’ve been working towards this goal for the past two years and can’t wait to line up with the best marathon runners in the country.

4. Do you have any rituals you stick to before races?
I try to stick to the same pre race breakfast just because it has worked well in the past, but other than that no other rituals.

5. What is your most memorable race?
My most memorable race is probably the California International Marathon in December.  It was a personal best by about 5 minutes, but yet fell short of the initial 2:43 standard for the Olympic Trials (the standard was changed to 2:45 a few days later).  It was tough to walk away from the finish line knowing that I gave it my all, but came up just short of my goal.  I was happily surprised a few days later when the standard was changed!

I want to thank my coach, Steve Sisson, and everyone on Team Rogue for helping me get to the trials.  I also want to thank my fiancé, Travis, for  always supporting me along the way.
